Hypnotherapy for overcoming depression - Positive Suggestions
Do you suffer from a pessimistic outlook on life? ‘It always happens to me…’
Do you have low energy levels?
Do you have a lack of purpose in your life?
Are you having difficulty sleeping?
Do you feel restless and agitated?
Are you crying a lot?
Are you getting no pleasure out of life?
Are you finding it difficult to concentrate?
Are you feeling helpless?
These are all symptoms of being depressed. Depression can be extremely debilitating but can be overcome with hypnotherapy and NLP, which are both extremely effective methods of bringing about change in the subconscious mind, the part of the mind that holds the key to lasting and permanent change.
Depression can range from simply having low spirits, to being something that is life-threatening, where individuals exhibit suicidal thoughts and have a lack of will to live. Depression should not be confused with having the odd negative thought when we feel miserable about life.
Thoughts such as “I’m feeling really low…” when we are miserable will pass in time. However, if these kinds of feelings do not pass, or come back over and over again, interfering with your life, then it is time to deal with the problem.
Do you want to feel good about yourself?
Do you want a purpose in life?
Do you want more energy?
Do you want to feel healthier?
Do you want to sleep better?
Do you want to be able to concentrate better?
Do you want to enjoy life more?
What will I expect in a typical hypnotherapy session dealing with depression?
We will utilize the powerful combination of hypnotherapy, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) techniques in order to effectively treat your depression.
Together we will focus on breaking negative thought patterns, encouraging new ways of thinking, exploring the experiences that contribute to your depression, finding a positive meaning in your life as well as setting goals for you to accomplish.
We will also focus on reducing stress in your life, improving self-esteem and confidence, as well as managing any recurrences of low mood.
It’s time to drag yourself out of the abyss of depression.
What is Postnatal Depression?
Postnatal depression, also known as postpartum depression, is a form of clinical depression that can affect women, and to a lesser extent, men, usually after childbirth. It can lead to a disruption in the normal patterns of communication exhibited between mothers and infants, leading to a negative impact on the child's thought processes and emotional development (1). This can lead to behavioural problems exhibited by your baby which may include temper tantrums, hyperactivity and aggression. Children of depressed mothers may learn to walk and talk later than other children as well as finding it difficult to form secure relationships with people.
Postnatal depression can stop you looking after yourself and your new born baby.
How do I know I have postnatal depression?
You may be suffering from the following symptoms, although the intensity of these will be different for different women:
1. Feeling high levels of sadness
2. Being constantly tired
3, Having problems sleeping
4. Losing your appetite
5. Crying episodes
6. Anxiety, for example, heart palpitations
8. Negative thoughts towards your baby which may include worrying over hurting your baby
What other factors can bring about postnatal depression?
Some of us are more susceptible to postnatal depression than others and this can be due to factors such as having previously suffered from depression (including postnatal depression), encountering stress during pregnancy, being in a difficult relationship with husband or partner and a lack of support from family or friends. Hormonal changes after childbirth can also trigger postnatal depression. Other factors may include the physical (for example, not being able to get rid of excess weight) and emotional changes that occur after giving birth, leaving you with feelings of low self-esteem and low self-worth as well as insecurity over your physical appearance.
How Hypnotherapy can help
Hypnotherapy is an effective way of allowing the individual to gain control over their thoughts and feelings so that, for example, they can utilise their skills and resources from the past in order to deal with stress inducing situations.
Hypnotherapy can help you release all the negative and anxious emotions and thoughts you had during the postnatal depression, breaking the cycle of constant fear and the fight or flight response that this brings. Because postnatal depression is so debilitating in terms of your mental well-being, it is natural for you to develop a low self-esteem and low self-image in direct response to the mixture of uncomfortable thoughts, feelings and physical symptoms you are experiencing.
Through hypnotherapy, you will be able to reprogram your thought processes and the way you want to view yourself, building and growing your self-esteem and confidence.
